God forbid a disaster had befallen Austin, Texas, last week, because it could have set back the evolution of legal tech by at least a decade. Assembled there were many of the best and the brightest of the legal tech world, who had all come together for the fourth edition of what has become the must-attend event for legal tech innovators, entrepreneurs and investors – the TLTF Summit.

This past week, law firm leaders and legal-tech builders gathered at a schmoozy, invite-only retreat in Austin to discuss the future of the legal profession.

At The Legal Tech Fund (TLTF) Summit in Austin, Texas, this week, many conversations focused on whether generative artificial intelligence legal tech solutions are translating into real-world changes in the legal industry.

"Every attendee that I had the chance to speak to described this event, without reservation, as the best legal tech conference they’d been to. Not the best legal tech conference this year, mind you, but the best ever."

TLTF isn’t just a conference—it’s the Davos of the legal innovation space, where funders, founders, and forward-thinkers collide. Over the past three days, it became clear to me that the narrative about legal being slow to change is outdated. Yes, the old guard may still cling to their ways, but their time is running out. 

"What we're trying to do is bring all of the people together, the entrepreneurs, the industry leaders, and the capital providers, to make 'who luck' happen to advance the industry," said Summit organizer Zach Posner. "I want to put all the right people in the room to accelerate everybody's work."

There in the bar, it suddenly struck me that I was in a moment that summed up the very essence of what made this conference so unique.

There are at least a few journalists who will provide their thoughts on the TLTF Summit which is great but I want to provide a different perspective. I think it's important to summarize the event using the lens of a legal tech founder and someone who's worked in the industry for more than a few years.

I just loved everything about it. In short, the event was comprehensive, informative and, most importantly, inspiring. And the people attending? All were sincere, enthusiastic, genuinely friendly (and the furthest from sale-sy).
